This week! I have been mostly eating... vodka-shots
! interview !
Session Start: Sun Mar 28 19:05:18 1999
*** G-DayQD has joined demojournal
ps hello!! : and who might you be?
G-DayQD ehr g-day :
ps and what do you do?
G-DayQD i am a musician and webmaster
ps you are?
G-DayQD what do you mean?
ps ofcourse you are! :D whats your real life status?
G-DayQD ehr.. did I miss something? : haha -
i am 19 years old, single - if thats what youre
referring to student
ps oh look! he is single!!! :
G-DayQD hehe
ps how did that happen? :P
G-DayQD i am a student advanced informatics in eindhoven, holland
and I work as a part time professional webdesigner
ps back to demoscene, what is your group again?
G-DayQD quad a dutch demogroup
ps and what productions have you done in the past?
G-DayQD well personally i have released some music. mostly at
parties. i also made some music for a music group called
rbi in the past. i left them about 2 weeks ago
ps what about for demos and intros?
G-DayQD yes. apart from that i ofcourse also cooperated in some
demos and intros. not too many
ps name them
G-DayQD most famous is theta, intro which was 1st at wired98
we also released some demos at dutch parties
they were:
kamikaze, perception, addicted, focus and process
focus made us famous in the dutch scene
it got 1st at bizarre97 out of the blue, because before
bizarre97, we were ... well.. nothing : owhz
ps hehe, so what about tp8?
G-DayQD we did an intro and a demo
demo: curse, which ended 8th
intro: pure, which ended 4th
it was the first time we did a demo AND an intro at the
same party so we had some difficulties : unfortunately,
they didnt exactly increase the quality :
ps but you said you werent doing much for tp8 before the party,
did one of you got hit in the head with a brick?
G-DayQD haha well we were working quite hard on that intro and
demo. we thought the intro would made a good chance for a
top3 position so we wanted to surprise everyone with that
intro it got 4th nonetheless : which sucks :
editor: i dont have the slidest idea why does he smile anyways
ps bah so what are your plans for the future? tell us about
trebel aswell...
G-DayQD aha well unfortunately i am not involved in the trebel
project, so i cant say much about that you should ask
skin about that.
currently skin and I are concentrating on the takeover
party in holland not to release something, but we are
involved in organizing it
ps aaaaaahhhhh wanna do some free advert? :
G-DayQD haha.. we dont do anything for free ofcourse :
we need some strip dancers : if you can arrange some..
please do so :
ps they are in the mail!
G-DayQD anyway in the future we will aim for the bigger parties
haha.. thank you :
ps but do some free adv for crying out loud!! :P what kind of
organizer are you that wont take an opportunity to get more
ppl to the party? :P
G-DayQD aaah. i minunderstood!!! : whaha i thought i had to make
some advert for you at takeover : hahaha :.. other
people call that sponsoring btw
editor: *lol* :
G-DayQD oh well i will take this opportunity then :
takeover will be held in the university of technology in
eindhoven in the south of the netherlands
date: 4-5-6 june for more information look at our
hightech website: www.takeover.nl :-
btw, i am not one of the main organizers
i will just do some compos
ps gday: so how did you got started on this demoscene biz?
G-DayQD well... i have been tracking since 1993, but i didnt
hear anything of a socalled scene until 1995 thats when
i saw 2nd reality.. i think thats the demo most sceners
saw first : well even then i didnt realise there was
some scene so i just continued tracking until i bought
myself a modem late 1995
ps and you saw the light! :D
G-DayQD thats when i started calling bbss and i downloaded some
prods : exactly! i got to know people and i called a bbs
here in our own town, weert i got in contact with quad
which had been formed a few months before that and
suprisingly, most of the members were in the same school
as I was so we already knew eachother a bit
ps how old were you by then?
G-DayQD i was 17 even now 6 people of quad live in the same town
ps how many ppl are in quad?
G-DayQD since a few days we have 12 members. our dear coder
inopia just left quad
ps why did he do that?
G-DayQD inopia wanted to use hardware acceleration but sarix and
sagacity, the other coders dont want that so he thought
it was best for him to leave us although we still are good
friends there hasnt been any fight whatsoever
ps i see. what was the first party you ever attended?
G-DayQD my very first party has been bizarre96. that was the 2nd
party for quad as a group we released a demo called
perception.. it got 6th if I can recall well
ps tell us about the party itself. how was it like?
G-DayQD oh.. well.. it was a 2day party and i only visited the
2nd day so all i got to do was watching the demo compo
and then waiting for results but many people say it was
one of the best parties ever held in the netherlands
ps why werent you there for the 2 days?
G-DayQD actually i dont remember... : i think it had to do with
the fact that i could travel along with another quadmember
at sunday
ps humm so are you ready for demojournal top-quiz?
G-DayQD ehr.. what do you mean? : top-quiz?
editor: your about to be slaughtered babe! :
ps gday: whats the capital of madagascar?
G-DayQD ehr... : stockhoml!
ps gday: how big are the netherlands?
G-DayQD the netherlands is about 34000 square miles
16million inhabitants :
ps gday: how many members where in the future crew?
G-DayQD 7? cumulatively? ehr.. :.. i have to think now!
that sucks! :
ps gday: whats the most southern point of the galaxy?
trick question
G-DayQD erh.. there is no south in galaxy no up nor down
no east nor west
ps gday: whats fx of fx3/2x4+2x-sinx ?
G-DayQD 6x3+2+cosx or something like that :
ps do me a scene trivia question for next question of the week
im out of inspiration :P
G-DayQD haha - was that right? that answer? - i am no king in
maths :
ps no, the sinus was wrong
G-DayQD haha i was afraid for that
ps sincos cos-sin :
G-DayQD ghehe.. ok : i forgot i am no coder :
ps help me with the trivia question for this week! :
G-DayQD ehr.. let me think..
ps so think! :
G-DayQD what is that little muppet called in those new levis
commercials from staprest?
ps bahahaha :P why is he using your domain for homepage?
G-DayQD haha... oh well flateric.quad98.net is done by a friend
of skin he is in the same school as we I, skin, sarix,
sagacity are
ps and why is it used on the levis commercials?
G-DayQD ehr because all hot chicks want flateric ofcourse!
ps aahhh same with everything on .quad98.net right? :P
G-DayQD ghehe - what do you mean? ed: didnt got that one? :P
ps all hot chiks want.. :
G-DayQD ehr.. all hot chicks want quad. thats a fact :
ps :D so what are your favorite demo/intro/coder/gfx/musician?
G-DayQD seperate categories? ehr.. let me think
state of mind is my favourite although it blew up my
monitor 2 months ago : it wanted to do some modeswitch
in the start... and.. *POOF*... no visual : fortunately
i had warranty :-
my favourite intro would be stash i like the tempo in the
intro it keeps going and going
i dont really have a favourite coder and a graphician
and as far as musicians are concerned.... ehrm..
ps ehrm?
G-DayQD i like zodiaks work and keith303s work a lot
ps do you have any question to answer?
G-DayQD what do you mean?
ps question to ask yourself! :
G-DayQD oh. why is it that all the girls love me?
i dont even know the answer myself : haha! :
ps :P wanna do some advert not sponsor to yourself and quad
before i close the interview then? :
G-DayQD erh as sagacity said in some quad.nfo:
quad - we have explosi...the future has an attitu...oh,
never mind. ghehhe :
ps heheheheheheheh ok i hereby conclude this interview
G-DayQD hm ok
* ps chops g-days head
ps :
G-DayQD so i can continue wanking erh... webdesigning now :
ps hehe! : busy man. l8r and thanks for your time :
G-DayQD hah! thats no problem. see ya

! demo !
Alchemy by Delabu Alama party-version
Found at demo.cat.hu
Party ranking:
Hmm, this is confusing. I found it under Demo.99/Flash.99, but
both the info-file the demo mention Flash 98, and the date of the
files is 12-25-98. Anyway, you know where to look for it. A
result-file wasnt available yet, but I expect this to be in the
top-3.
System requirements:
Minimum Pentium, better PII.
8MB ram for DOS, 16 for Win9x, 2.7 MB HD.
Vesa2 for the 640*480*256-LFB mode.
Any midas-supported noise device.
The demo:
This production from the Mexican group Delabu Alama uses also an
hi-rez mode, like Plastic, Radikal and the like, which results
automatically in a certain style: no 3D worlds with +10000 faces, no
billion layers of effects, but an emphasis on design and good ideas.
Meta-cylinders for example, the big brother of our well-known
metaballs. Other 3D-objects are less original, I guess everyone has
seen a virus or a rubber pilar before, but they still look nice in
hi-rez fast framerate. The old design-rule Never show a black
screen is replaced by Never show a black background, and indeed,
even some tv-like snow-lines are better then nothing. The graphic
department has no full-screen still pictures, the only hand-drawn
art are the little symbols shown during certain part and a logo or
two,in addition to the photoshop-backgrounds and a small videoclip
from Public Enemy.
The music:
Again, most of these stylish demos seem to have the same style
of music: quite electrical, rather slow. Alchemy is no exception,
although I must mention the catchy baseline. Few real synchronization
between music effects, expect a variation of the main theme during
some effects, and the cool endpart: some text scrolls out of screen,
we hear a crash and the screen shakes.
Worth the download:
If you prefer demos with heavy code, 32-bit color pictures and
such, dont bother. Delabu Alama are no demo-experts they admit
their 3D-engine is not-so-cool, but if you want design, go ahead
and get it. After all, youve nothing to loose, right :. BTW, its
nice to see theres a demoscene in Mexico and Latin countries. When
you read the mags, especially the scene is dying articles, you
tend to forget there are lots of countries that are just beginning
to computerize, so theres a large potential for new local
demoscenes. So check out some productions of new groups, they may be
the future.

Her Spirits Rise by Falcon/Pulse+TDR
falcon said:
..under influence of the event that was
being placed over the frozen lake
somewhere in poland.
the day was 6th of february, 1998
This magnificent piece of music was composed by Falcon, for the
multichannel competition at Wired98. It ended up as number 8.
Falcon has done it again, he has made a tune that touches ones
emotions. No wonder how he did it this time, when being partly
inspired by the gods of intelligent electronics - FSOL - it comes
natural. Sit down and listen thru this voyage into fantasy
dreamlands. Listen how the small elfs playing with the ice crystals
over the frozen lake, is resulting in heavenly harp melodies. So
lite and beatiful, so enchanting. Listen and let your mind be
enchanted, knowing the elfsong is just the prelude, soon followed
by majestic opera performed by the blue opera diva herself!
Listen.

The worlds most popular active diskmag. Freeware.
Sylvia Krasnieski was born in San Francisco, California, as the daughter of
a Polish father and a half-French, half-Italian mother. Right now she is 24
years old and one of the worlds top models. Actually I wanted to study
art, she says. But when I won the Supermodel contest some years ago, I
decided I had no other choice than to start a professional model career. Now
I am mainly a model but use as much of my spare time as possible to study.
We asked her where she got the energy to be a model and study at the same
time. In a mysterious voice, she answered: I got it from my leisure
activities when I was still at highschool. This gave me the happiness and
motivation I need for my career. Being asked for details, Sylvia says: I
spent as much time as possible going out with my friends. And whenever I was
alone, I used to read my Hugi.
Peter Rosenthal was born in New York City as the son of a Jewish father and
a half-German, half-British mother. Right now he is 21 years old and already
the director of the one of the worlds leading software companies. Our
success comes from an innovative software engineering tool called NeuroCode,
whose development I have already started when I was at highschool. It makes
programming much easier because of its artificial intelligence. You just
have to implement the basic concepts, and then the program will do
everything for you based on your dialogue with it. In other words, you talk
to the intelligent program. And it anticipates your wishes. We asked him
where he got the inspiration for this innovation. He said, I used to
discuss all kinds of problems with my friends. In this way I got a lot of
ideas. And whenever I was alone, I used to read my Hugi.
