Thats right, and Im here to bring you the 4 year anniversary pack,
something thats never been done before in the ascii scene. Weve said it a
dozen times or more, and well keep saying it.
WE OWN YOU.
What can one say about a 4 year anniversary? Fuck, it should speak
for itself, but thats a bit on the boring side, now isnt it? I could point
out how we started all this shit, how weve been the scene innovators, and
how we can never be beaten.
But you already knew that.
A lot of you are probably wondering whats the status with Remorse.
Well, its going strong, as it will for years to come. A lot of people were
worried that with my apparent depature, Remorse would falter.
You were oh so wrong.
Remorse is above one man. Its above the few. Remorse is all. The
core of Remorse has always been the oldtimers, the people that were there for
the start of it, but without a body, the spine is just a useless set of
bones. The body of Remorse is the artists, the spirit, the family. And thats
what makes us strong. Because we rise above anything that blocks our path.
You may be wondering, Well Necromancer, are you back to run it? My
answer is no. I am not. Im back to help. Im back to do my part, as I always
have. Everyone runs Remorse. We all do our part. No single person has tasks
that are more important than anothers.
I have seen many discussions on the state of the scene since Ive
been back, and I can tell you this: mice nuts. Youre concentrating on things
that are trite and unimportant. The scene is about one thing, and thats art.
Remember that, next time you think to yourself, Well, my group is failing,
Ill go with INSERT GROUP instead. Thats why groups fail - artists.
Well, if its about art, then why the emphasis on loyalty?
Because without loyalty, you are just a freelancer, a mercenary ascii
artist, and not really contributing. Sure, its about art, but its also about
community. If you choose your group well, youll choose a group of people that
become your friends. People that you enjoy hanging out with, that you respect
and admire. Thats why in the history of Remorse, we have had very few people
leave for other groups. If they leave, its mostly leaving the scene, or they
stop drawing. Why is that?
We are a family.
But its time for me to step off my soapbox and let some others speak.
This is, after all, quite an important pack, and many people have things to
say about it. So without further ado, I bring you my brothers.

I might as well waste your time before you get to the relatively
interesting stuff in the rest of the pack. In case youre one of those
weird people who looks for trends, consider this: the very first thing
I ever did for remorse but not as a member was a spoof essay about the
effect of Remorse in World War II. Well, it turns out that a little
digging turned up information showing Remorses influence on the First
Crusade wr-hist.txt.
Spooky, isnt it?
Now for some words about 4 years. Basically, they are goddamn,
really? Four years? Wow.... Its hard to argue with that kind of
success. Through the highs and the lows, we have persevered. Weve gone
through stages of schizophrenia remorse, trank, asciid, remorse, and we
have managed to grow up a little along the way without losing the youthful
enthusiasm that was present at the dawning of rmrs-1.zip.
What does the future hold for Remorse? In some ways, it doesnt
truly matter. Whatever the obstacle, Remorse survives. That is simply the
way it is, was, and always will be. At the end of the world, it will be
Remorse and the cockroaches. With our last breath, well fall in that last
roach, revelling in the knowledge that we have outlived the competition,
regardless of the form it takes.
This is our legacy for you, and for the future. Guard it well, and
know always that we will be there to pick up your pieces and guide you
through the darkness.

So, write an article Cain. Yeah, sure.. No problem. I thought about
discussing Kristin, hell.. I even thought about devising a plan to get Whirr
laid, but that would require thinking. So I decided to write about the scene,
and how I feel its doing in general.
Lets get this out of the way: Remorse is the shit, we own you.
Ok, with that off of my chest Ill get down to it. Its a toss-up, you
know.. one could say that the scene is dying, while on the other hand, one
could say that we are all prospering. Im gonna give it to you straight -- We
are prospering, No shit, The scene isnt as alive as it used to be, but the
competition is better then ever, and the ascii being turned out is Prime shit.
Look at the last three releases from Remorse .. each release has had a specific
feel to it, and its been getting nothing but better each month.
Mimic has been consistent, and they are always improving. Karma, well..
you guys are straight boring the shit out of us! Why dont you mix it up and
try to get your key players a little more involved! -- Mimic has been laying
a serious smackdown, actually.. Ive enjoyed their packs. Karma is owned by
Black Jack and his Mimic crew. But everyone is owned by Remorse. There you go!
Mankind is a fucking goof, If you took his mouth out of Karma packs,
and left his ascii, it might be worth viewing. And hey k88 -- come on over to
Remorse, we could discuss your joining .. Too bad he quit on you guys, har.
Mimic has problems within the group too, people quitting because of Serial Toon
and all.. someone wanna tell us whats up with that? Discofunk 1974 has dropped
off the face of the earth, could it be because ZEROHOUR and his Bitch Killing
Posse is after him? Nah, maybe its because people like Arlequin are starting
to worhsip him btw that was not the best ascii ever, come on man! -- No
offense to Arl of Remorse, but damnit boy - you ever say that again and Ill
slap your ass silly!
Black Jack continues to boreboarboor us with his jaunts about Kristin,
what is it with Ascii Artists not getting chicks? oh well, Im doing fine,
maybe its just the ones who havent reached the peak of puberty yet. Sorry
Jeff, last time Ill ever bring it up, I promise.
Hey, catch this one - Remorse - I dont think anyone can complain about
this family. Other than the late release, things go well there. As far as we
know, there are no BITCHES to eliminate. I guess with all that stuff in mind
the scene is doing just fine. Yeah, I guess so.. but Ive compiled a list of
ideas that will keep it that way:

Youve heard it a million times, The ASCII scene is going to die,
the ASCII scene sucks. blah blah etc etc. And if youve heard it a million
times, Ive heard it hundreds of billions of times. Ive been hearing it
since 1995 when the PC ASCII scene was about a year old.
The honest truth is that the ASCII scene will eventually die. You
and I will eventually die also. The sun will eventually burn out and all
human kind will perish. Am I worried? No. The chance of you and I being
here for the death of the ASCII scene are slim. There is probably a greater
chance of us dying in a nuclear holocaust first. Which could probably take
the ASCII scene with it.
Before you give up your ASCII doodles and go towards VGA which is a
fine medium within itself, I think its important to remember why you draw.
The future of your medium has nothing to do it. I draw for many reasons.
One of the driving forces is working with a bunch of great people. Totally
irrelevant to the art is the fact that these people are great to talk to.
Competition is another big part of why I still draw. I still feel the
oldschool ASCII scene is competitive, and I still like to compete with the
up-and-coming artists. One of the reasons I feel Im such a good artists is
that Ive been competing with Hiro Protagonist for years now, and hes one of
the best artists around. The last and probably strongest reason that I draw
is totally intangible. It is just an internal force that makes me draw. I sit
down at my computer and I say, I feel like drawing.
The fact that the ASCII scene is going to eventually die is totally
irrelevant to the reasons I draw. I just enjoy the time I spend in the art
scene, and I plan on staying with ASCII as long as I enjoy it. Other artists
should do the same. Draw what you want, how you want, feel free to experiment,
and enjoy your time in the scene. Ive said this a million times, and Ill
probably say it a million more times. Its all about the art. To add on top
of that, its not only about the art, its about the artists.

I guess Ill take this opportunity to let you all know about this
gameshow idea I had... First of all, we start out with 3 contestants, and
a notable host Pat Sajak? Alex Trebek? The guy from that show where
everyone always went nuts screaming BIG MONEY NO WHAMMIES!! BIG MONEY!!
NO WHAMMIES!!!. To qualify as a contestant, you must be at least 18 years
of age, US citizens, and at least 5 feet 6 inches tall.
The contestants will be shown 3 photos of 3 different peoples faces. Two
of them are normal people, and the third is infact a midget. The
contestant who buzzes in first and properly identifies the midget as a
midget wins a small cash prize which is added to their total.
We will need 10 rounds, 10 midgets and 20 normal people per round. When
time is running out, we will have some sort of Midget Lightning-Round,
where the pictures keep on scrolling and when someone spots a midget, they
buzz in and get a small cash prize.
Whoever has the most cash at the end of the 10th round or the end of the
Midget Lightning-Round gets to participate with the host in what I think
we will call: FINAL MIDGETRY
Im not quite sure what to call it... SPOT THE MIDGET, or perhaps
MIDGETED OUT. Maybe we could change the format a little bit and have
some sort of 7 Degrees to That Midget From Fantasy Island game.
Instead of Vanna White as the sexy assistant, we could have a midget chick
wearing lingerie.
For a grand finale, we could fire a midget out of a cannon, into a pit
filled with hungry possibly rabid? badgers. We might get censored on
this part, but I think the kids will like it. Dont worry, I dont think
anything bad will happen to the badgers... The midget will not have any
weapons with which to hurt the badgers. He will also most likely be
stunned from being shot out of the cannon, and wouldnt give up much of a
fight to hungry, rabid badgers.

When the decision to bring back Katuma was announced a while back I
spent a little time considering the events that have occured since the
last issue, both in the scene and my own life. Far too many words are
needed to cover it all, I know - I tried. At any rate, Ive come up
a fun travel plan for the summer and/or fall of this year. What Ild
like to do is either ride a motorcycle or buy a rail pass and see some
of America - your ghettos, your suburbs, your towers of steel, and
hang out with some people from the scene.
If yould like to hook up with me, maybe go for a few drinks or
smoke herb if thats your thing or even just play some n64 and give me
a tour of your home town, whateva, Ild look forward to hearing from
you via email. Thus far I am planning to spend some time in Columbus
Ohio home of Whodini, Chex, and Kal, and the 408 home of ACiD,
Necromancer, Necronite, and all those other goofs in the ACiD Con IV
photos on Acheron. Additional cities/area codes will be added to my
travel plans as people announce themselves as interested and, where
possible, willing to let me sleep on their couch or crash on their

When this whole thing started, it caught me by fire, I found myself
spending most of my spare time sitting in front of my computer, drawing or
chatting, thinking about my next moves in the scene before going to sleep.
Groups like remorse, noname, kwest, basic, grill and serial had
supported the competitive spirit of the scene, and got my interest increasing.
During all of my scene life , there was always a huge shadow flying above
any group or label that I was in, there was always one group who was the
biggest, most powerful group of them all. It wasnt always the best in ascii
quality, but it had the biggest presence, I guess you could say remorse
represents the pc-underground ascii scene.
When I was in remorse, it was a good time ascii wise, I got to work
with the best ascii artists around, and people around babbled about my
attitude, which wasnt very nice, I must admit, but was totally normal
considering I was a part of the best ascii group around.
Then other days came.... and now the ascii scene is not what it used
to be. Necromancer had let go of his group, and detached himself temporarily
from the scene, letting other people run his group for him.
Remorse has changed, quality of the packs had went down, and remorse
had become just like any other ascii group - mediocre. The attitude of the
scene has disappeared, and the attitude of remorse had disappeared with it.
The reason Im writing this is because I still care, and I want the
scene to become once again what it used to be, the only one who can do it is
you Mark, maybe instead of letting someone else drive your car, you should
have just parked it on the side for a while...

Yes Martr, Remorse has changed. But I would say its changed for the
better. I may have played a key role in the attitudes conveyed in the NFO
files, but thats hardly responsible for the scene or the direction of the
group.
I went on vacation from the scene unannounced, leaving the pieces for
someone else to pick up. How were they supposed to do that? Only one man
stepped up to this task, and that man is WindRider. And he did a DAMN good
job. Yes, the attitude of Remorse from the figureheads view may have
changed, but that does not affect the art.
WindRider is not me. I am a unique individual with unique views, and
if I am not there, then those views are not spoken and nor will they be
molded into attitude. That is inevitable.
That is also irrelevant. What matters is that in my own personal view,
Remorses quality has at the least stayed the same. We have new blood, new
art, and new attitudes to help us tighten our grip on the scene. That is a
good thing, Martyr. WindRider has brought a new spin to the group, and a fresh
spin. Without change, we stagnate and trickle out in a death of mediocrity.
I am glad that Remorse did not fall, that it kept going in my absence.
It showed to me that the members DID care, and that they were up to the task.
It made me feel honored.
And you can never forget that I did not run Remorse alone. Since the
reincarnation, I have run it with Whodini. He has always played a large role
in the group, and his input was always present. So just removing me means
nothing to the quality of the group, as I represented only 50 of the
leadership.
How is Remorse being run now? Who knows. Who knows if Ill do the next
pack, or WindRider, Whodini, Zerohour, Hiro Protagonist or another member.
Ultimately, it does not matter, as we are all brothers, we are all Remorse.

yea yea FUNK THAT. The scenes gone through many changes over the years, many.
Many groups have died, some striving to stay alive, and some still going
strong. That brings up Acid, specifically Remorse. Remorse, a group thats
lived long than any other ascii group is still kicking it. Since Remorse
returned to life, back in 1996, we have been owning the scene, literally.
Thanks to the leadership of Necromancer, Pariah, Tum, Whirr and others. Weve
also had our bad times, i.e. beginning of 1999 but I beleive Remorse is
still at its best and causing other groups to go over the limit just to
compete with us.
Then theres the Discofunk controversy, if anybody doesnt know about
thatkarma, no doubt, then you are retards and need to start keeping up with
the scene cuz you are mad behind. Discofunk supposely was trying to reform
odelay by recruiting members from remorse and karma, causing those groups to
break up. What an asshole..
Mimic.. wow. Remorses best competition since the days of odelay.
Mimic has proved itself a worthy foe of us in the past couple months, coming
out with some outstanding packs newschool wise. Oldschool wise the group could
use some better members, but the newschool makes up for it. The hard thing to
believe is, Remorse and Mimic have yet to have a group fight. This is
something youd hardly ever see 2 years ago, maybe even a year ago. I think
this shows that we are getting way too damn old, but ah well.
Karma.. ugh. Karma has great members but lacks good leadership. Its
leaders are hardly involved in the scene, and from my viewpoint, are hardly
ever in contact with their members. Karma would prove themselves if they could
keep theirselves on track and keep up with the scene, something that hasnt
been shown to date.
Hazmat.. ah. Hazmat, CIAs ascii division. A sortted group with members
that are great, and some who arent so great but have great potential. I look
forward to the next couple packs from this group. If they keep on track like
theyve been doing, they could turn out to be a major group in the scene.
Aspire.. doh! RIP. Aspire, Gwydianaka Puffs group died about 2 or
so months ago. This group had potential to be a great group but when gwydian
decided to remove the ansi division, which i definately thought was a bad move,
it lost its popularity. After this happened the group slowly faded away. And
sad to say, a local scene died with it. One good thing though, is that Gwydian
is now in remorse, woohoo.
Element.. oooh. Element, Kayozzs label or whatever,what the hell are
these things? shows off its skillz pretty often with great collies. I always
look forward to a colly from one of the artists under the element label.
Arcade.. ??. Dezibels label. This guy is great, i love his ascii, but
i have no idea who the hell else is under the arcade label..
Then theres the people in the scene. I think everybody has pretty much
matured over the years. I remember when i first joined ascii. Oh boy. I got
banned for having the nick df because it was some server. This caused me to
hate the ops in ascii back then. But now look at the ops, more mature, not
banning people for stupid reasons as much, and there isnt as much anti-op
whinning as there used to be. A couple weeks ago i recall somebody hating
remorse because of the way we treat people in ascii. This guy must be a
fucking weenie. I got banned all the time from ascii when i was new, i put up
with itfor awhile, but this guy cant when its not even close as much. People,
you are in fucking heaven compared to what it used to be, so if i hear whining,
ill just ban you and ignore you.

Thats right, and Im here to bring you the 4 year anniversary pack,
something thats never been done before in the ascii scene. Weve said it a
dozen times or more, and well keep saying it.
WE OWN YOU.
What can one say about a 4 year anniversary? Fuck, it should speak
for itself, but thats a bit on the boring side, now isnt it? I could point
out how we started all this shit, how weve been the scene innovators, and
how we can never be beaten.
But you already knew that.
A lot of you are probably wondering whats the status with Remorse.
Well, its going strong, as it will for years to come. A lot of people were
worried that with my apparent depature, Remorse would falter.
You were oh so wrong.
Remorse is above one man. Its above the few. Remorse is all. The
core of Remorse has always been the oldtimers, the people that were there for
the start of it, but without a body, the spine is just a useless set of
bones. The body of Remorse is the artists, the spirit, the family. And thats
what makes us strong. Because we rise above anything that blocks our path.
You may be wondering, Well Necromancer, are you back to run it? My
answer is no. I am not. Im back to help. Im back to do my part, as I always
have. Everyone runs Remorse. We all do our part. No single person has tasks
that are more important than anothers.
I have seen many discussions on the state of the scene since Ive
been back, and I can tell you this: mice nuts. Youre concentrating on things
that are trite and unimportant. The scene is about one thing, and thats art.
Remember that, next time you think to yourself, Well, my group is failing,
Ill go with INSERT GROUP instead. Thats why groups fail - artists.
Well, if its about art, then why the emphasis on loyalty?
Because without loyalty, you are just a freelancer, a mercenary ascii
artist, and not really contributing. Sure, its about art, but its also about
community. If you choose your group well, youll choose a group of people that
become your friends. People that you enjoy hanging out with, that you respect
and admire. Thats why in the history of Remorse, we have had very few people
leave for other groups. If they leave, its mostly leaving the scene, or they
stop drawing. Why is that?
We are a family.
But its time for me to step off my soapbox and let some others speak.
This is, after all, quite an important pack, and many people have things to
say about it. So without further ado, I bring you my brothers.

I might as well waste your time before you get to the relatively
interesting stuff in the rest of the pack. In case youre one of those
weird people who looks for trends, consider this: the very first thing
I ever did for remorse but not as a member was a spoof essay about the
effect of Remorse in World War II. Well, it turns out that a little
digging turned up information showing Remorses influence on the First
Crusade wr-hist.txt.
Spooky, isnt it?
Now for some words about 4 years. Basically, they are goddamn,
really? Four years? Wow.... Its hard to argue with that kind of
success. Through the highs and the lows, we have persevered. Weve gone
through stages of schizophrenia remorse, trank, asciid, remorse, and we
have managed to grow up a little along the way without losing the youthful
enthusiasm that was present at the dawning of rmrs-1.zip.
What does the future hold for Remorse? In some ways, it doesnt
truly matter. Whatever the obstacle, Remorse survives. That is simply the
way it is, was, and always will be. At the end of the world, it will be
Remorse and the cockroaches. With our last breath, well fall in that last
roach, revelling in the knowledge that we have outlived the competition,
regardless of the form it takes.
This is our legacy for you, and for the future. Guard it well, and
know always that we will be there to pick up your pieces and guide you
through the darkness.

So, write an article Cain. Yeah, sure.. No problem. I thought about
discussing Kristin, hell.. I even thought about devising a plan to get Whirr
laid, but that would require thinking. So I decided to write about the scene,
and how I feel its doing in general.
Lets get this out of the way: Remorse is the shit, we own you.
Ok, with that off of my chest Ill get down to it. Its a toss-up, you
know.. one could say that the scene is dying, while on the other hand, one
could say that we are all prospering. Im gonna give it to you straight -- We
are prospering, No shit, The scene isnt as alive as it used to be, but the
competition is better then ever, and the ascii being turned out is Prime shit.
Look at the last three releases from Remorse .. each release has had a specific
feel to it, and its been getting nothing but better each month.
Mimic has been consistent, and they are always improving. Karma, well..
you guys are straight boring the shit out of us! Why dont you mix it up and
try to get your key players a little more involved! -- Mimic has been laying
a serious smackdown, actually.. Ive enjoyed their packs. Karma is owned by
Black Jack and his Mimic crew. But everyone is owned by Remorse. There you go!
Mankind is a fucking goof, If you took his mouth out of Karma packs,
and left his ascii, it might be worth viewing. And hey k88 -- come on over to
Remorse, we could discuss your joining .. Too bad he quit on you guys, har.
Mimic has problems within the group too, people quitting because of Serial Toon
and all.. someone wanna tell us whats up with that? Discofunk 1974 has dropped
off the face of the earth, could it be because ZEROHOUR and his Bitch Killing
Posse is after him? Nah, maybe its because people like Arlequin are starting
to worhsip him btw that was not the best ascii ever, come on man! -- No

this family. Other than the late release, things go well there. As far as we

Youve heard it a million times, The ASCII scene is going to die,
the ASCII scene sucks. blah blah etc etc. And if youve heard it a million
times, Ive heard it hundreds of billions of times. Ive been hearing it
since 1995 when the PC ASCII scene was about a year old.
The honest truth is that the ASCII scene will eventually die. You
and I will eventually die also. The sun will eventually burn out and all
human kind will perish. Am I worried? No. The chance of you and I being
here for the death of the ASCII scene are slim. There is probably a greater
chance of us dying in a nuclear holocaust first. Which could probably take
the ASCII scene with it.
Before you give up your ASCII doodles and go towards VGA which is a
fine medium within itself, I think its important to remember why you draw.
The future of your medium has nothing to do it. I draw for many reasons.
One of the driving forces is working with a bunch of great people. Totally
irrelevant to the art is the fact that these people are great to talk to.
Competition is another big part of why I still draw. I still feel the
oldschool ASCII scene is competitive, and I still like to compete with the
up-and-coming artists. One of the reasons I feel Im such a good artists is
that Ive been competing with Hiro Protagonist for years now, and hes one of
the best artists around. The last and probably strongest reason that I draw
is totally intangible. It is just an internal force that makes me draw. I sit
down at my computer and I say, I feel like drawing.
The fact that the ASCII scene is going to eventually die is totally
irrelevant to the reasons I draw. I just enjoy the time I spend in the art
scene, and I plan on staying with ASCII as long as I enjoy it. Other artists
should do the same. Draw what you want, how you want, feel free to experiment,
and enjoy your time in the scene. Ive said this a million times, and Ill
probably say it a million more times. Its all about the art. To add on top
of that, its not only about the art, its about the artists.

I guess Ill take this opportunity to let you all know about this
gameshow idea I had... First of all, we start out with 3 contestants, and
a notable host Pat Sajak? Alex Trebek? The guy from that show where
everyone always went nuts screaming BIG MONEY NO WHAMMIES!! BIG MONEY!!
NO WHAMMIES!!!. To qualify as a contestant, you must be at least 18 years
of age, US citizens, and at least 5 feet 6 inches tall.
The contestants will be shown 3 photos of 3 different peoples faces. Two
of them are normal people, and the third is infact a midget. The
contestant who buzzes in first and properly identifies the midget as a
midget wins a small cash prize which is added to their total.
We will need 10 rounds, 10 midgets and 20 normal people per round. When
time is running out, we will have some sort of Midget Lightning-Round,
where the pictures keep on scrolling and when someone spots a midget, they
buzz in and get a small cash prize.
Whoever has the most cash at the end of the 10th round or the end of the
Midget Lightning-Round gets to participate with the host in what I think
we will call: FINAL MIDGETRY
Im not quite sure what to call it... SPOT THE MIDGET, or perhaps
MIDGETED OUT. Maybe we could change the format a little bit and have
some sort of 7 Degrees to That Midget From Fantasy Island game.
Instead of Vanna White as the sexy assistant, we could have a midget chick
wearing lingerie.
For a grand finale, we could fire a midget out of a cannon, into a pit
filled with hungry possibly rabid? badgers. We might get censored on
this part, but I think the kids will like it. Dont worry, I dont think
anything bad will happen to the badgers... The midget will not have any
weapons with which to hurt the badgers. He will also most likely be
stunned from being shot out of the cannon, and wouldnt give up much of a
fight to hungry, rabid badgers.

When the decision to bring back Katuma was announced a while back I
spent a little time considering the events that have occured since the
last issue, both in the scene and my own life. Far too many words are
needed to cover it all, I know - I tried. At any rate, Ive come up
a fun travel plan for the summer and/or fall of this year. What Ild
like to do is either ride a motorcycle or buy a rail pass and see some
of America - your ghettos, your suburbs, your towers of steel, and
hang out with some people from the scene.
If yould like to hook up with me, maybe go for a few drinks or
smoke herb if thats your thing or even just play some n64 and give me
a tour of your home town, whateva, Ild look forward to hearing from
you via email. Thus far I am planning to spend some time in Columbus
Ohio home of Whodini, Chex, and Kal, and the 408 home of ACiD,
Necromancer, Necronite, and all those other goofs in the ACiD Con IV

When this whole thing started, it caught me by fire, I found myself
spending most of my spare time sitting in front of my computer, drawing or
chatting, thinking about my next moves in the scene before going to sleep.
Groups like remorse, noname, kwest, basic, grill and serial had
supported the competitive spirit of the scene, and got my interest increasing.
During all of my scene life , there was always a huge shadow flying above
any group or label that I was in, there was always one group who was the
biggest, most powerful group of them all. It wasnt always the best in ascii
quality, but it had the biggest presence, I guess you could say remorse
represents the pc-underground ascii scene.
When I was in remorse, it was a good time ascii wise, I got to work
with the best ascii artists around, and people around babbled about my
attitude, which wasnt very nice, I must admit, but was totally normal
considering I was a part of the best ascii group around.
Then other days came.... and now the ascii scene is not what it used
to be. Necromancer had let go of his group, and detached himself temporarily
from the scene, letting other people run his group for him.
Remorse has changed, quality of the packs had went down, and remorse
had become just like any other ascii group - mediocre. The attitude of the
scene has disappeared, and the attitude of remorse had disappeared with it.
The reason Im writing this is because I still care, and I want the
scene to become once again what it used to be, the only one who can do it is
you Mark, maybe instead of letting someone else drive your car, you should
have just parked it on the side for a while...

Yes Martr, Remorse has changed. But I would say its changed for the
better. I may have played a key role in the attitudes conveyed in the NFO
files, but thats hardly responsible for the scene or the direction of the
group.
I went on vacation from the scene unannounced, leaving the pieces for
someone else to pick up. How were they supposed to do that? Only one man
stepped up to this task, and that man is WindRider. And he did a DAMN good
job. Yes, the attitude of Remorse from the figureheads view may have
changed, but that does not affect the art.
WindRider is not me. I am a unique individual with unique views, and
if I am not there, then those views are not spoken and nor will they be
molded into attitude. That is inevitable.
That is also irrelevant. What matters is that in my own personal view,
Remorses quality has at the least stayed the same. We have new blood, new
art, and new attitudes to help us tighten our grip on the scene. That is a
good thing, Martyr. WindRider has brought a new spin to the group, and a fresh
spin. Without change, we stagnate and trickle out in a death of mediocrity.
I am glad that Remorse did not fall, that it kept going in my absence.
It showed to me that the members DID care, and that they were up to the task.
It made me feel honored.
And you can never forget that I did not run Remorse alone. Since the
reincarnation, I have run it with Whodini. He has always played a large role
in the group, and his input was always present. So just removing me means
nothing to the quality of the group, as I represented only 50 of the
leadership.
How is Remorse being run now? Who knows. Who knows if Ill do the next
pack, or WindRider, Whodini, Zerohour, Hiro Protagonist or another member.
Ultimately, it does not matter, as we are all brothers, we are all Remorse.

yea right, FUNK THAT. Anybody remember that song, back in the day?
yea yea FUNK THAT. The scenes gone through many changes over the years, many.
Many groups have died, some striving to stay alive, and some still going
strong. That brings up Acid, specifically Remorse. Remorse, a group thats
lived long than any other ascii group is still kicking it. Since Remorse
returned to life, back in 1996, we have been owning the scene, literally.
Thanks to the leadership of Necromancer, Pariah, Tum, Whirr and others. Weve
also had our bad times, i.e. beginning of 1999 but I beleive Remorse is
still at its best and causing other groups to go over the limit just to
compete with us.
Then theres the Discofunk controversy, if anybody doesnt know about
thatkarma, no doubt, then you are retards and need to start keeping up with
the scene cuz you are mad behind. Discofunk supposely was trying to reform
odelay by recruiting members from remorse and karma, causing those groups to
break up. What an asshole..
Mimic.. wow. Remorses best competition since the days of odelay.
Mimic has proved itself a worthy foe of us in the past couple months, coming
out with some outstanding packs newschool wise. Oldschool wise the group could
use some better members, but the newschool makes up for it. The hard thing to
believe is, Remorse and Mimic have yet to have a group fight. This is
something youd hardly ever see 2 years ago, maybe even a year ago. I think
this shows that we are getting way too damn old, but ah well.
Karma.. ugh. Karma has great members but lacks good leadership. Its
leaders are hardly involved in the scene, and from my viewpoint, are hardly
ever in contact with their members. Karma would prove themselves if they could
keep theirselves on track and keep up with the scene, something that hasnt
been shown to date.
Hazmat.. ah. Hazmat, CIAs ascii division. A sortted group with members
that are great, and some who arent so great but have great potential. I look
forward to the next couple packs from this group. If they keep on track like
theyve been doing, they could turn out to be a major group in the scene.
Aspire.. doh! RIP. Aspire, Gwydianaka Puffs group died about 2 or
so months ago. This group had potential to be a great group but when gwydian
decided to remove the ansi division, which i definately thought was a bad move,
it lost its popularity. After this happened the group slowly faded away. And
sad to say, a local scene died with it. One good thing though, is that Gwydian
is now in remorse, woohoo.
Element.. oooh. Element, Kayozzs label or whatever,what the hell are
these things? shows off its skillz pretty often with great collies. I always
look forward to a colly from one of the artists under the element label.
Arcade.. ??. Dezibels label. This guy is great, i love his ascii, but
i have no idea who the hell else is under the arcade label..
Then theres the people in the scene. I think everybody has pretty much
matured over the years. I remember when i first joined ascii. Oh boy. I got
banned for having the nick df because it was some server. This caused me to
hate the ops in ascii back then. But now look at the ops, more mature, not
banning people for stupid reasons as much, and there isnt as much anti-op
whinning as there used to be. A couple weeks ago i recall somebody hating
remorse because of the way we treat people in ascii. This guy must be a
fucking weenie. I got banned all the time from ascii when i was new, i put up
with itfor awhile, but this guy cant when its not even close as much. People,
you are in fucking heaven compared to what it used to be, so if i hear whining,
ill just ban you and ignore you.
