intro ..
It has been a while since the last Revival pack... this is due to lack of
submissions, and general slowdown due to the summer months. There has been
talk of Revival dying, and this has been contemplated by myself along with
other members of the group.
Some people argue that the Ansi scene never died. Obviously people did not
stop drawing Ansi, but to compare todays scene with that of yesteryear is
rediculous. Artists of that caliber are hard to come by in todays scene,
and there is nowhere near the activity of that time.
Revivals goal, MY goal, was to bring those artists who made the scene great
back.. even if only temporarily. I feel that Revival did that with its
releases. Revivals best packs are comparable to the best packs during the
scenes peak, and that in itself is a victory.
Of course Ansi lives on, but it isnt the same. Revival has brought back
artists that would never have opened aciddraw again, and released some
amazing art. Even though those artists will not continue to release art
with Revival forever, the art they have released will hopefully motivate
others to keep up their work.
As of the fate of Revival, that is still undecided. I cannot guarantee
a release every month, unless activity picks up. But I am not going to
kill the group until I feel it truly is dead.

ansi showdowns ..
Ansi showdowns is an exciting new competition created by lazthaus ld!,
and myself, with additional help from discyple. There is a very detailed
explanation of what exactly these showdowns are, and how you can partic-
ipate, in SHOWDOWN.ANS. To give a very brief overview, the Ansi showdowns
are basically a competition between artists. Two artists come together and
challenge eachother to a showdown. The showdown is voted upon by everyone
in the scene on blackthursday.net, and scores are kept. It was created
to liven up the scene and challenge artists to better their current skill.

bbs update ..
As stated in the last newsletter, Revival is dedicated to all facets of
the scene this includes the BBS scene. Ansi has many deep roots in the
BBS scene and without it there may have never BEEN an Ansi scene. For these
reasons Revival endorses all members who run boards, and has put many hours
into making our WHQ the best it can possibly be.
