want to know how i draw my ansis? read on.
first i usually draw a box, which looks something like this:
1 1 - this is the top of the box. it is horizontal
2 - as opposed to the top of the box, t
he left
side of the box is vertical.
24
3 - being just as long as the top of th
e box, we
call this the bottom of the box. it
is also
3 horizontal, and is usually found below the
top of the box.
4 - what the bottom of the box is to the top of
the box, the right side of the box is to the
left side of the box.
sides 12 meet at a right angle. so do sides 14, 23 and 3
4. if they didnt
wed have something i like to call a parallelogram.
after the box is drawn, i usually fix up things here and the
re to make it look
better.
in this case i have erased the numbers
1, 2, 3
and 4. doesnt that look better alread
y?
then comes the most important part of the ansi. the triangl
e. in this example
lets attach it to the right side of the box. refer to pre
vious picture if
you are unable to locate the right side of the box. you ma
y attach it
anywhere you want to. most new-school artists however like
to use the right
side triangle effect, so this is what we are going to do.
1 it is very important to remember how
to draw
1 straight lines. notice that the di
stance
between each step is 1, as illustr
ated on the
diagram on the left.

some minor touchups. the 1s dont l
ook right
so i got rid of them.
i now pick a colour. i do this by holding down the ctrl and
the up keys, and
then releasing the up key several seconds later. i will col
our the object
using the colour i have picked.
notice that the shape of the ob
ject is exactly
as it was before. the
only thing that changed
is the colour of the o
bject.
observe that the entire object
is coloured, not
only parts of it.
some minor touchup
i want to shade this, but which colour should i
start + 8 finish
shade WITH? simple. add 8 to whichever colo
ur
you were using before. in our example we will
use colour number 10, which luckily correspon
ds
to bright green. ie. 2 + 8 10
other examples of this phenomenon are also shown.
weve got our colour now, but WHAT should we colour in w
ith it? that is a
very good question, and i have a very good answer to that qu
estion. first one
must choose the direction the light is coming from. then on
e simply shades in
that side of the object, giving it a 3D look. for our examp
le lets say that
the light is coming in from the right. we therefore colour
the triangle with
the colour 10, as follows:
notice how the ob
ject looks 3D now.
thats all there is to it. add a catchy slogan, your sig, a
nd youre done!
