filth 2012
so lets bring this to an end! if you made it through all of this i would
like to thank you from the soggiest parts of my heart. id also like to
really thank everyone who became a part of my circle of friends during this
creative trip from 2012 until the writing of this in the new year of 2016.
... ive always had a lot of love for art. amazing art by others who are
either dead, or whom ill never meet. and art from people i know. in turn,
i enjoy doing my part. since i was a wee lad ive been putting the pen
to paper and variations of that and have been influenced by so many things
and so many people. ansi artists now as much as then are an extension of
that influence. its been so great to come back to all of this and see so
much new and amazing artwork from newcomers. and its still hard for me
to grasp sometimes the artwork of oldschoolers who came back along for these
new and exciting times. it truly is a marvel to see these things happen.
and id like to think im not the only one who truly feels lucky to be
a part of this little section of the art world.
the best part of all of this is that its ours. we make it what it is.
theres no setup to follow. no rules. no outside bullshit. man, ive
seen so many amazing things since 2012 happen in the textmode medium. from
computer screens to galleries. from country to country. film, shirts,
posters, magazine covers, fuck, just about everything. sure, that sort of
thing happens with all mediums. but with textmode, its entirely different.
this art and what it represents is freedom. money means fuck all when it
comes to this type of medium. everyone of us knows this, and we love it.
not too many people can say they are a part of something so free. and not
just free as in a monetary form of bullshit. freedom to put out what
we want and have it loved by so many.
iM R C E
in these few short years i can honestly say that not only has my textmode
creativity flourished, but my overall artistic outlook. the time that i
personally put into ansi art is a credit to myself. i may snap jokes about
certain artwork i put out, but id like to think that i have put out enough
artwork to provide a good example of true artistic expression achieved by
putting in the time and having the heart to do it and to want to do it.
and look, im not going to say oh well, hey, i was just gonna do this
CRiME solo thing back then just for me, and me only! its what its about!
no, no that was never the case. i wanted as many people to see it and hope
to recieve nice feedback for most of it. i only put that idea to bed when
i came across my old friends from the textmode scene and their wonderful
creative machine - Blocktronics.
n
the communial aspect of the textmode scene is one of the major reasons it
is what it is. i love not just being a part of the textmode scene, but being
on board with other people who have continued to blow my fucking mind at
every release. some of the best from then are putting out even better work
now. and really, it almost seems impossible that happens. but thats art.
it never stops getting better. ARTISTS can keep pushing boundries. and
thats what everyone who is a part of this does for me. by them pushing
boundries, they push my need to want to keep up. so all of this, this
somewhat sprawling collection of art is because of all of you. again, i make
cheesy, snarky jokes from time to time about the art in here, but the truth
is: i keep going. i have no interest in being the best because the best is
already all around me with the folks who keep this alive.
theres no other way for me to express my thanks to all of you who have
in one way or another been a part of this ongoing creative trip. the best
i can do is stick around for the ride and enjoy what you all keep doing
and acknowledging how lucky i am and how great it is to be along with you.
