ANCIENT CREEPS IN DISTRESS
HOW TO RIP FERREX.
by ferrex fx, for the 100th acid artpack.
i am aware of at least a hand full of people ripping my drawing style
1 to 1, and more that are just copying the little star thingie, and the
tribal layout style. if youre thinking dude, tribal layouts have been
existed for longer than he lives. then youre probably right, but i am
talking about my very specific style of tribal layouts.
typical schemes like the one below, same shading. and then theres the
little coincidence of those types of layouts appearing
alot while after i excessively used them. anyway..
this document has not been written to convince you that
people actually rip me, nor to bitch at them. im way
beyond the bitching, i dont even care anymore. if people
rip me then they are just making themself look like fags
and the ones giving them leech accounts and whatnot.
it is just called how to rip ferrex, because i liked that title and it
even fits the subject. so lets get it on.
you want to draw like i do? need inspiration? youre fed up by finding
yourself gazing at a white notepad with terminal font and wondering how
the real artists draw ascii? read on.
raw outline of the
letters
as this is a tutorial on how to draw what i draw, you will have to draw
a word, a logo. so you have to have a word that you want to draw or
several words... i also do draw characters and whatnot, but im not the
best at that anyway, you got a word? fine.
figure how big each character of the word may be, if you want to draw it
one one line, and then draw the basic shape of it.
LNDiSO
i am using, as you might be able to read already - LNDiSO.
if you are reading this document because you want to know how to get
ahold of such groups, or how to get leet warez - wrong approach faggot.
software piracy is nothing funny, and dont contact me for warez either,
i dont have any and i wont give you any. this is about ascii art.
so, i figured the characters wont fit on to one line with a line width
of 5 blocks for the chars, i had to let some of them overlap.
the N overlaps the L, and the I overlaps the D, which is enough to fit
it onto one line. i also drew in basic finishing to get a feeling for
how the word will look in the end if you ever see me drawing, you wont
actually think, that i think while i draw, but i do p.
got that? lets move on then.
refining letters
first details
now its time to refine the letters, i in most of the cases do it like
this: have either the left half of the words tips point to the right,
and the left halfs tips to the left. or let all point in the same
direction. in this piece its the first variant, as you can already see
at the bottom. then i always draw something into the middle of the word
not always, but mostly like you can see in the L N D i and S already.
its just a bar that goes through the whole word, somehow. i also added
some first shading.
LNDiSO
shading
detail.
ok well in this step, when looking at the progress below you might feel
lost, but i will attempt to explain it as good as i can
basically its just adding the shading, and finalizing the letters..
is easy for me as i draw this style for years now, but might be
complicated for anyone else ..i dont have the slightest clue heh.
so, i started with finalizing the letters, added the tips to letters
and added my typical marks or whatever you want to call it.
its stuff like below, left side of the L. little tribal
approaches or whatever it looks like to you. and of
my little stars. as this: always with one or more
half-block dots 45 to it. on with the shading.
my shading style is pretty simple but effective.
it makes logos looking good in both, acidview/draw/etc
with gray on black and also in notepad or similar viewers
with a white background and probably black font. i do NOT support the
drawing of black on white pieces, if your ascii cant be displayed
correctly on a black background then it is crap, period. anyway, i
shade like this: i shade all around the piece, as i assume a light
source that comes from the viewing point.. and i only shade where the
logo/layout allows the setting of a darker block, and the shading
blocks may only cover a whole line in rare cases. i also rather shade
corners than straight lines.
right. wrong. ok.
then, if i draw something behind the logo, i always keep a black
border of at least one half-block. also between the letters, there
should be a border of at least 1 half-block. heres the progress:
layout.
the layout is the most annoying part, i often just stop when i finished
the logo. which is why i will keep
SUPPLIED BY: MY ANUS this short aswell. you all should
know the word tribal from wherever
tattoos for example, things shaped
like roots of a tree ..or to hell
with you i dont know, you can see it
to the left. theres a few rules
REL about how i draw these tribals, but
i wont list them here now because i
