I've been thinking about having sex with an alien. =====! interview !============================================================= *** Now talking in #demojournal *** kisu- has joined #demojournal Hello! Heya. Welcome to interactive Demojournal interview. Your first task is to share your common information with the readers - who and what are you? Well, I'm 21 years old chick from Finland and people call me Kisu. What am I? That's hard to describe... Ok. And this leads into another question.. How come a girl to be involved with demoscene= Well, I used to date a demoscener years ago and through him I met lots of scene ppl and that's how I got involved with the scene. At the beginning I didn't have any idea what demoscene was, I just followed my boyfriend :) I think I was 16 years old at that time. Do you do anything else than meeting you're scene friends and going parties? A girl that goes to parties is not that special, but a girl who codes would be really extraordinary. :) I'd like to do music or graphics but I'm so short tempered that every time I try to learn the basics of the programs I need, I lose my temper in half an hour. So basically I just meet up with old friends and make new ones at parties. Do you play any instrument or draw pictures in real-life, then? I do drawings and I used to play flute - I still do it every now and then. I have all this ideas about what kind of music I'd like to do but it's really frustrating because I can't produce it out of my head. Transporting musical ideas to the tracker is not the easiest possible thing. I play guitar myself and yes - it's quite frustrating if I have some cool idea in my mind but can't do it with a tracker. at parties I usually catch myself judging others proctions and then realize I can't output mine into a format it could be judged :) Try competing in wild compo. :) I should do that :) What kind of music you listen, then? The music I listen to really varies and depends on my moods. Sometimes it's classical, sometimes country, but mostly techno related music. Do I have to name specific artists? Not if you don't want to. Hehe :) Hey but now I'll ask some hard sex-related questions (sure :) 'cause this is 69th issue of Demojournal. w00p! Should I be scared now? Perhaps? :) I don't get scared that easily :) Ok. What do you think about nerds in common? It's true many sceners can be counted as such persons. No hope for men hiding behind computers from your view? In my opinion scene is very social thing after all. Of course some of the ppl are real nerds and can't communicate with other ppl face to face. The good thing is, that ppl like that are minority. And sometimes men hiding behind computers can be REAL treasures ;) Hehe. Absolution to all you who are coding 12h/day to get your demo ready before tp... What charasterics you value the most in a man, then? He must be extrovert, positive, not so serious and easygoing. And of course funny. * melw looks into himself and thinks if he fits into this definition... :) :D maybe I just have to find out about that :) Krhm. Let's change the subject... I agree >:) Hey but one more question about sex. What do you think about one night things? I always say I don't support that kind of behaviour, but I don't condemn ppl for doing it. But sometimes flesh is weaker than the mind. Oh, I almost forgot - are you single?-) I am, unfortunately. So all the cute guys who are reading this, do e-mail me >:) Okay. So now I'll test you with Demojournal quick quiz. The idea in this is that I write a word and you must answer as quickly as you can whatever pops in your mind about the word. Ok. Weird :) Ok. Are you ready? I think I am. Ren Pils [editor: Perhaps the cheapest Danish beers] Beer :) Safe sex A thing that's rather boring but very necessary. Party Friends that I don't get to see often enough. Beer. Campfires. Bustrips Bus full of nerds that smell _very_ bad :) Christmas Celebration that is totally unnecessary. 69 I guess you all can imagine what would be the first thing that comes to my mind about that. Love Pain Hippies Bunch of ppl that are stuck in the past. Aaaand friends People I can't live without. Okay. Let's a talk still a bit about your favourite-whatevers. Like what's the most unforgettable party you've visited? I believe TG'97 would be it. You were there? Damn, I don't remember you at all from the bustrip.. I went by air :) Oh, that explains a lot. I think that the couple of days in a bus with bunch of bad smelling guys would have been too much :) Well, that I can imagine it can be hard especially for a girl... What about demos, do you have any favourites? Not specially something I'd watch over and over again. For some reason I respect the old demos more than the ones made today. And in my opinion a demo should have some kind of a plot. Not just donuts bouncing around the screen :) I can understand that, I'm also more to a bit older demos.. Like I got GUS (thanks's to Droid) few weeks ago and now I c an watch all the old intros and Demos etc. from Orange and Halcyon. Real nice to watch them after a while. Do you like travelling? At least you've been on some foreign parties.. I love to travel. I need to get out of Finland at least couple of times per year. What country do you like most, then? Can any other country beat Finland? :) I visited Antigua & Barbuda last April and I totally fell in love with the place. I'd move there right this minute if I had the chance. Almost any other country beats Finland, yeah :) Whoa. Those countries are quite far away.. In fact - where in hell they are located? :) In the Caribean, below Cuba. Nice. So reggae music and sun's shining there all the time? :) Yep. It was like visiting the paradise. Do you have anyt other hobbies, besides travelling and partying? Well, I started skydiving a bit over a year ago and that takes a big part of my time during summertime. I love clubbing and partying generally, downhill skiing and riding horses. Okay but now I think I'm quite done with asking you more questions. Do you have anything you would like to share with the readers? Like advertising some URL:s or email address (so now all the single sceners can contact you :) or anything. All you goodlooking and fun scener guys, do e-mail me at kisu@jere.net >:) I wish you all readers merry x-mas! Merry x-mas to you, too! And thank you for the interview! It was nice talking with you. You too. =====! demo !================================================================== Sexadelic by Byterapers Demo from Assembly'98, placed 4th Would like to have Pentium, 32Mb of RAM and Vesa 2.0 Download: ftp://ftp.scene.org/pub/parties/1998/assembly98/pcdemo/b-sex.zip If anybody asked you what demo you remember from the Assembly '98 I think many of you would remember Sexadelic, though it came only fourth in the competition itself. Sexadelic as a demo that has a strong atmosphere. Through the whole demo there's this same a bit monotonic discobeat tune (by Legend/CNCD). The colors are from time to time psychotic and the musics mixed to several differend 2d effects on the background and stylish women pictures on the foreground gives this certain 70's feeling "psychedelic love - sexadelic party - narcotics". There's also some 3d in this demo, a vinyl record spinning in the beginning, a mushroom scene and the love zoomer which dives from a round room to another though a heart. I think the makers of this demo have watched some old Steve McQueen movies, at least the credit texts using the video material is very clever ending for the demo. Worth of download? Hell, sure! If you really have missed this one, get it now! It's quite hard to find any bad poins from this demo. Well, not every one likes the music and if you're not into the right mood for this demo I can imagine it doesn't look that good, but anyways it's one of the top releases from '98 - do I need to say more. Melwyn =====! intro !================================================================= 69 by The Black Lotus 64 kilobytes intro at Assembly 1996 9th place out of 13 Download: ftp://ftp.scene.hu/.1/DEMO.'96/Assembly.'96/64k/tbl_69.zip Credits: Laban - programming Axm - graphics Facet - graphics Stryper - music This is the 69th issue of Demojournal. What comes into one's mind about this number? The hippies and Woodstock, probably. There was also an intro with this title, but probably not too many of us remember it. It was released at Assembly'96. This was the party where the ever-famous demos Machines of Madness by Dubius and Vivid Experiment by Doomsday were released. The winner of the intro competition was Blind by Eufrosyne. This intro was made by TBL. If you haven't heard of this intro so far, but you know TBL's more recent intros, like Jizz or Stash - do not expect that quality. It was not "this" TBL back then. The topic is the hippis, as the title suggests. The subtitle is actually "Mind the little Hippies". The music is a merry chiptune, it is nothing special. The intro starts with a fine TBL logo, then there are some pictures bumped on it, like a freedom-symbol and a smiley-face. This part is followed by a plasma effect, which is boring and the pallette is terrible. Then it changes to a parallel planes effect. The colors are uhmm... _strange_ here, too. Then comes a sunny-plasma, with the palette of the first plasma effect. Then there is a picture with a smoking nigga dude; it is a good one (relatively). After this picture that parallel planes effect comes again, but the texture is changed to '69 texts. The colors are the same, do I need to mention it? At this place the intro hangs on my machine, but I do not think that there is much left after this point (provided this is not the true end of the intro...). This is everything, if not more than what one can say about this intro. It was done in the summer of 1996. Then, something happened with the brains of the TBL coders, some others joined, too, and they released Jizz in the next summer... By the way, I wonder if Demojournal will reach the 303th issue ... Gekko gk@scene.hu gk@scene.hu =====! music !================================================================= Giving tree Siren www.imphobia.org Imphobia offers for download special version of 4th track of "Audiophonic", which was written by Alexander Brandon known as Siren. For those who don't know - he is member of Straylight, a group which has made music for games like Crusader and Unreal. His probably best scene release is musicdisk "Oracle", which he has composed together with Sirrus and released under Juni. "Giving tree" is written in a style which is somewhere between his music from Oracle mostly from rhythmical side and from Unreal in the area of melodies. To this combination he adds vocals, which are only average but they quite fit to the track. Whole track is good, but he has made much better songs and I was a bit disappointed - I've expected something better for the CD. Still it is a good song, but I would recommend you more getting mentioned "Oracle" musicdisk. Doin it 99' carlos jecoute.cjb.net Welcome to our jazz station where we have today 2 new releases by carlos and smash. First song "Doin it 99" by carlos is build on the main guitar riff from Herbie Hancock tune "Doin'it". Fortunatelly Carlos was again in the mood and made more than a remix and came out with great and wild song which is in some points similar to "Streets of Budapest". Second song is "spider to the fly" by smash and since the beginning you'll hear in it influence from Jamiroquai mixed with smash's own ideas that make it unique and give it different sound. This song has also won dejavu 2 multichannel compo. So if you feel like you would like to hear a bit of good old jazz again, visit jecoute. ?------------------------------------------------------------------- -- - - !====:] articles [:============================================================ :---------------------------------------------------------------- -- - - Retro a.c. - superstar dj's: - note from the "author" Since we have freedom of speech and I'd like to have my moment of defence I'll say few words about the Superstar dj's demo. First of all I'd like to thank Seven for great review. About the system requirements. The demo does not need 128mb of memory. Optimal system requirement are in my demos based on the machines the demos were developed on. And I do not have anykind of memory handling.. except if you run out of memory you won't see the demo =) So the superstar dj's works with 32mb or even less. Some Essex demos I've done "work" on a p120 with 16mb of mem and greyscale mode, but aren't that fast. And the system requirements in the info file is something like pII etc. At this point I could say that I was planning this demo to TP9 so that I could have time to make a 3dengine(I made the "engine" from a scratch in few weeks is big complishment with my talents) and a great design. But about three weeks before Dreamhack'99 I realised that I didn't have any production to take there so I started to make the superstar dj's to DH. I my self am quite satisfied with the result considering the the time I had to make it compared to my "talents" =) And about the MIDAS frameCount thing.. all movement is based on that frameCount of MIDAS and it seems to make little pauses under windows and even in plain DOS and that's why the demo have these little so called pauses.. It's not related to the machines speed in anyway.. Sorry about that.. I don't know what causes it, because Damones Asm'99 demo doens't have the problem and both demos are built with same MIDAS options (cut'n'paste) etc... So I think in future (in TP9 for example) you'll see in DOS demos that I make the same problem.. but demos will be much nicer and probably less minimalistic.. I think.. Anyways go watch the demo and don't judge it with a hard hand.. And wait for our The Party 9 demo featuring Trem Muls (from the disk) by md again... Gotta do some work.. some f*ck*ng smsgateway stuff in c++.. yep.. and I don't know a shit about c++.. m.siren ?------------------------------------------------------------------- -- - - !====:] end [:================================================================= :---------------------------------------------------------------- -- - - Download site#1.ftp://flerp.scene.hu/scene/DiskMag/DemoJournal Download site#2.........ftp://ftp.foxfiber.net/pub/demojournal Download site#3.ftp://amber.bti.pl/pub/scene/mags/demo_journal Download site#4.......ftp://ftp.scene.org/pub/mags/demojournal Homepage.......................http://demojournal.planet-d.net Mirror.............................http://demojournal.scene.hu Webmaster......Sweeper......................
