Greetings anvilhed here I m a newbie on the artscene I joined the artscene a coupla months ago or something This may all sound real lame and all but read on I want everyone to know who I am I was born in Finland I live in Finland and hopefully I will die in Finland I believe I m ONE of the youngest ppl on the artscene these days(i m born 84) I started drawing ANSI as I remember in late 97(like almost immediately after I got my own PC a Compaq laptop) Don t underestimate me now ) In the middle of 97-98 I was hanging around on BBS s a lot From there I learned a lot of what people do on the computerscene and got to know a lot of stuff which I and many other ppl would take for granted today People say the finnish BBS-scene is dead and was dead before I knew anything about these boards so I haven t been through much ANSI was tought to me by one man one finnish man who was then called Psyched Today he is known by the nick Liepo afaik(although he has left the scene by now I hope you ll return some day man ) Well anyway I learned to draw some ANSI and I became more popular in some private warez BBS rings Several months passed and more and more boards went down So this guy Alpha Plane(in yer face! x) tought me what IRC was ) So I left the BBS-scene(or what was left of it) and started hanging on IRC At this point I completely stopped drawing ANSI and consentrated on IRCnet warez groups and tracking music Many of these groups cried out for NFO headers and ascii art and I couldn t resist on serving the poor pirates My ascii was lame but nobody seemed to care The warez people started to know me on IRCnet and I got more and more requests of these blokscii headers ppl use in their NFO s(ehrm like etc ) Well this went on for a bit but as before change was inevitable I quit drawing ascii and consentrated on music more I learned to track some and I was having fun while talkin shit on IRC Well yeah that was fun I guess but still I wanted something more I wanted to go back to ANSI I wanted those sweet colours back in my art! GIMME GIMME GIMME!@ I had heard this #ans channel name somewhere maybe from Liepo Anyways I headed for Efnet to check out what this channel was But hey!@ there I met some ppl I knew a bit already through Seduction and IRC (I guess) These guys are Unseen Fate and Prosthesis(funk-e) These dudes kinda introduced me to the real artscene I learned to understand the scene and learned all that shit ppl speak etc So I really started practising ANSI and while browsing artpacks reading *COUGH*gutter*COUGH* that FILTHy mag that is dead by now and looking at some old stuff Prosthesis showed me I learned a lot of new things At a certain point I joined CIA which was fun to be in until I left after pack #63 Now I m in EPIC I was with it pretty much from the start and I expect a lot from it from Us What s my newbie-opinion of the scene I think it s great People just worry too much about BWAAH! The scene is dead!
