The stasis chamber opened The room was empty and the low hum of the isolation machines gave me a cold feeling The displat showed the date July 9th I wandered around stumbling and questioning why no one had been waiting to meet me I entered the waiting room Empty A lone chair sat in the middle of the white floor In the streets I found them Bodies Corpses Abandoned hovercars The people for the most part were decomposing The few that were identifiable had large black scabs on their faces and hands Some sort of disease I instantly pulled my shirt over my mouth and nose but realised it was a helpless situation The looks of anguish and horror that expressed their fear were terrifying The tortured smile of a yound girl showed the hysteria and insanity at had plagued people before their deaths The cold stare from the pale face of the teenage boy sitting next to her was more frightening somehow The stench of rotting flesh was unbearable so i made my way to the commercial section of the city Crawling over crashed cars and several vandalized telephone booths I reached Robson Looted stores with smashed windows and broken merchandise cases Crimson Graffiti covered a small Volkswagon I aproached to see a blood covered woman lying face down Not spraypaint The blood spelled out The Survivors rule No more laws Similar writing on various other objects encouraged me to leave The hospital Bodies piled high above my head Ditches started unsucessfully A note on the door Closed There are too many It is too late We can t help you Go home and sleep and wait The Apartments had once housed the entire population of the city I started my search for anyone left alive Nothing No one 2 days I searched I found him in the east corner He must have hung himself in the closet And there on the table the diary I searched to the last entry I have sent messages in every form I can think of Every channel in the net I found a loud speaker and walked around shouting There is no one left Nothing I am alone Signed and dated July 8th Then I realised Not just death Death is nothing One life is lost This isn t one person Not one person Not a hundred Not a hundred million Humanity in it s entirety Complete end to the Human Species I ran to the roof HELLO It was the first time a tear dripped down my face And the first time I realised I am truly alone
