Trends I don t know about any of you out there but my school seems to be filled with just about the most trendy people in the world This can go for any school I suppose but especially high school and college because that is when most people are searching for their identity I think that s all great for them but the problem that I have with them is that they pick the identity that hundreds upon hundreds of other kids have already chosen I can understand perfectly the need to be accepted but should you go so far to be accepted to sacrifice your own values and opinions I don t think that you should Your individuality is what makes you you That should not be sacrificed for anything Do not let yourself succomb to the pressure of being a teenager The right path may not always be the easiest but it is definitely the most rewarding Don t be afraid of who you really are or what others will think of you Like things because you actually like them Not because MTV or some other part of the media tell you to Don t let yourself be fooled by advetising agents and the like When you adopt a look or a certain type of music just because other people who you think are cool dress that way or listen to that music you make the people who actually like that style look bad because it becomes harder and harder to discern between the people who actually like that style of type of music When this happens the label of just liking it just because everybody else and being a trendy gets put on everybody who liked that style and music long before the people just looking for acceptance came into the scene I m not saying to question your existance or some crap like that what I am saying is that maybe you should look at why you like the things you do Don t let a few assholes who would ridicule you for having your own thoughts and style stand in your way essay by tom servo
