A Prayer for Anne Innocense and pride spewed from the mouth of a babe In the dark years of despair man s dignity would fade What torment to the mind could such horror reveal Hidden beneath the loving child s treasured diary seal To escape would lessen the impact of her victorious fight To understand man s obsession pardon his sins she would write Though we can never shroud the truth in the optimism of youth We can find comfort in the mechanisms which spared her the truth No mention of the burning bodies heaped in a pit near the camp Or the mist of death as it floated under their midnight lamp Yet the words tell of dreams of love we all believe must be In the hearts of all men as the seed of God s living tree What pain must this beautiful girl encountered in the end After such dreams of hope as her handed down messages send Dear God in heaven how can we bare to let life linger on Without redemption of heart for the millions who are gone We must open our minds to the teachers lived long ago With their pain and torment do their life stories show The arogance of youth which we see in this troubled day Offers little hope that man can change this evil way If in giving my life can I correct my legacy s wrong Then let the angel of death bring to me his comming song And in the light of your graces may your angels forever thank The forgiving nature of love which blessed the life of Anne Frank Amen TRoN BL DE
