IV The Great Emmissary sat shivering inside his meager living space It bothered hom little though As a boy Gregory Tramme had sat through weeks of hunger and years without heat At least now what his situation was lacking in life s physical nessecities it was more then plentiful with the supreme commandive power that he craved The Reylerian cult was now based out of a small bulding in northern Colorado It was the least liely sight for a religious shrine The wood of the stairs was rotting the dull gray stone walls were chipped away at leaving a layer of jagged points that would cut anyone who dared to lean on them Compared to the rest of the space the Emmissary s room little more then a stone box with a door and one small widow was a paradise The only remarkable thing about the place was that above every door was the symbol of the cult a black circle with a fanged red grin The Emmissary had spent several months attempting to find a more permanent base of operations the the mobile wagons that the group had used before This was for two reasons The first being that the group had grown more rapidly then he could have hoped ofr and thus there was no more real need to travel around and gain members The second was so as to appear to the other members that the cult had taken a step toward true religious organization something that would make him look more powerful in their eyes As Great Emmisary he performed his duties always without failure He knew that anything but perfect praticing of the cult s customs would endanger his position He allowed no apprentices remebering what he had done to the fool who had let him be one He knew that now that the group was setteld though that simply perfoming the necessayr actions of the cult s religion would not be enough He had to make it seem as if he was being a very productive leader He became so engrossed in his position that he even started dreaming of Reyler The odd being s form both demonic and divine simultaneously was an amazing sight Reyler spoke to him and told him of a great High Council that dictated the fate of multiple universes He spoke of his attempts to rise to power in the council and of how he would lead mankind (or what was left of it once he was done) with Tramme at his side to the conquer an infinite number of universes He once spoke of these odd dreams which he thought to be nothng more then a result of his work with such religious fanatics to one of his followers Of course this man whose name was Brian Drelman took this to be a true sign form his god He encouraged the Emmisarry to write them down as the holy scriptures of Reyler Realizing that this may be the productivity that his poeple desired Tramme began to spend hours writing down the words that came to him in dreams form a god who he did not really believe in It did not matter to Tramme All that he cared about was that he was getting more and more control over more and more followers the exact thing that the god he claimed to be the voice of wanted V Reyler s position had gone up in his time on the council His speech on behalf of Trillyw had brought the two closer together then he had hoped The sly ex-demon knew he gave the feelings that dictated Trillyw s actions a logical base something that the old god found indispensible From the moment of the speech on Trillyw would not atend any sort of Council function without the presecnce of Reyler Reyler was still watched carefully by other Council members though While his support had gone up with tose who were traditional freinds with Trillyw he was still lacking athe backing of the most important Council member Querom Querom was a middle aged council member who had risen from mortal status the most impressive rise in the history of the universes It was said that even without omniscience he was able to outsmart the ecil old god of his universe into giving up the position and naming him the heir Querom prized nothing more then ability He was considered by most the most adept god in any situation He never lied never cheated and never did anything concealed from the others It was this quality that scared Reyler Reyler s life as a demon was filled with trickery and deciet It was the only way to gain power Those who could keep their motives best concealed were always the most efective and powerful His long gone relative Lucifer had done the finest job millenia ago by supposedly giving Council duristiction over the demons in order to insure himself a seat Of course he had stacked the cards He had it written into the deal that the demons would reamin free to inhabit whatever universe they individually wanted Lucifer did some persuading in order to make sure that all the demons based theri operations out of his universe the one called by most humans Hell As a redult he retained his power over the demons while being given a place on the most powerful governing body ever The fact that Querom was able to accomplish more of his goals then even the sneakyest demon while making his unpopular motives known struck Reyler as amazing He simply could not comprehend how ability could have any measure on sucess without some sort of deciet involved In short honesty scared him Reyler did not know even whee to begin He tried talking to Querom using insinuations which Querom immediatly pointed out for their true meaning The council has a need to put the wisdom of the elder members in a position of great importance Reyler would say in front of a gathering of the gods Querom would simply reply You mean that we should let Trillyw have a greater say in things because you have an immense pul as far as his opinons are concerned Though all of the members acted terrified by such a blatant accustaion they all were forced to acknowledege that Querom was undoubtably right and thus they discarded Reyler s statements Reyler was of course terribly angry He saw no way to ally himself to Querom He continued to convey his messages to his universe through a man that had an amazingly demon like quality for a mortal Soon enough he would be ready to take Querom by force if he could not suceed with cunning It was merly a matter of time To be continued *Note I normally don t do dedications in my works as they are not written for anyone but simply beacuse I love to write them However the commonplace system of greets does seem very effective as far as showing appreciation without having to dedicate anything so here goes Greets Winter Rose Thanks for all the help I owe you one(or two or three ) Dreamcrusher Hey I need someone to
