Greetings, and thanks for viewing the June 1996 Rival pack, entitled,
Back to Basics.... Because indeed, we have gone back to basics. Since our
revival in March of 1996, our packs werent has successful as we wanted them
to be. So we decided to go back to what we know, and that is, quite simply,
producing quality art. And do we have some quality art for your ass this month.
Mays Pack...
What happened to it? Heh, we at Rival decided not to release a may packfor a variety of reasons. First, we needed to get back on release schedule. We
released the last two packs March April in the last quarter of the month,
and we wanted to get back to releasing in the first quater of the month. Also,
we needed time to get reorganized. I was pretty much absent for the last two
packs, and when I came back, things were in somewhat of a disarray. So some
restructuring was needed, and time to do it as well. We do however, plan on
releasing monthly from now on at around the first of each month.
Intro to Junes Pack...
Something about the end of spring and the onset of summer makes a motherfucker wanna doodle. We have some AWESOME art in this pack. I expected the
pack to be good at the beginning of the month, but no where near as good as it
is. This pack is truely, our revival pack. It seems like March and April were
just practice releases. Because with this pack, comes the quality and the
talent you were used to seeing in the oldskool rival packs, plus the bonus of
a guest appearence by Defiant of Anger. Yes, we are truely back, and let only
a fool say otherwise.
New Talent...
I know Im gonna fuck this up. Weve had a LOT of people join since in
the last two months. This is in no specific order, and please forgive me if I
forget anyone. With that said... A spectacular artist by the name of Weazel
returns to Rival. He joined Rival shortly before it died, and were glad to
have him back. His ansi is truely mouth watering, and word has it, that his
RIPs are too. Also new on the roster, is Kargus, an ansi artist with talent,
skill, and style. I personally love his style, and I think you will too.
Moving on, yet another great ansi artist by the name of Nafarious joins up with
the Rival family. This guy simply rocks. Ive seen him execute a variety of
styles, and all he does very well. We lub Nafarious. Yes, we do. Weve also
had a couple really good VGA artists team up. The lovable Pinguino, who has a
style all her own. She produced some really high quality .GIFS this month, so
check em out. If acidview wont view em, FIND A VIEWER THAT WILL CUZ THEY ROCK.We also have a wackyass they call Outkast, whos VGA you may have seen in ODiUM
packs. His VGAs are DY-NO-MITE, but sadly, none are in this months pack. Butmost definitely look for some work by him in Julys pack. He did however, do
a spiffy RIP this month, so check that out. Speaking of RIP, an old friend of
ours FINALLY joined our ranks. Malebolgia, aka 69, of former ACiD and Flatline
fame has come to us. For those of you who havent seen Malebolgias work,
youre missing out. He has talent cerainly unmatched by any in the scene. And
for those of you who have seen his work, you know what Im talking about. Word
has it that another ex-rival artist by the name of Realm Dweller joined back up.But, I think hes lost. If someone finds him, please send him my e-mail addressand a copy of aciddraw. Thanks.
Dearly Departed...
Weve had our share of losses as well. But parting is such sweet sorrow
and I hate to dwell on it. But a goodbye and a sincere best of luck to everyonewho left us this month.
This month...and last month too...
Deep Breath. Its been a long two months. But well worth the wait,
that I am sure of. Weve been through hell and back, but the important thing
is, were back. Hell was a nice place to visit, but living there would be a
bitch yo. Anyways, I can say that Rival is back on its feet with a running
start. Things are starting to flow a lot more smoothly now, and everyone in
the group deserves credit for it. You may have noticed that the formats of the
memberlist and this info file have been recycled. The same formats were used inthe May and June 1995 Rival packs. Im sure you can guess why Im using them
again. If you cant, think about it. Itll come to ya sooner or later.
Making a guest appearence...
Is Defiant, whos an awesomely talented artist, and good friend of
Rivals. He did a .BIN this month that youre sure to love. Parasite from
iCE did the font on it, and it simply kicks much ass. Thanks Defiant...
Rival Oldskool style...
Ive included a special section this month, entitled Oldskool Rival.
These are pieces of art that were relesed in our very *FIRST* Rival pack, back
in January 1995. Next month Ill include pieces from our February 1995 pack,
and so on. Why?, is probably the first question that comes to a lot of
peoples minds. And I say, because everyone needs a good laugh! . Plus
it shows you a bit of our history and what weve evolved from. A lot of us
had different handles back then, so please refer to OLDSKOOL.KEY for alias
coversion . Oldskool Rival, when finished, will contain six volumes dating from January 1995 to June 1995. A collection thats a *must* for every householdto have.
