Dynamite Kid vs Tiger Mask by Mel Farr Suppastar
by merging rock roll with the avant-garde the velvet underground laid the groundwork
for alternative or independent music. Brian Eno said the first velvet underground
record sold only 30,000 copies, but everyone who bought those copies started a band.
from 1982-1983 Dynamite Kid and Tiger Mask waged an epic battle that did for wrestling
what the velvet underground did for rock n roll. It would take years for their influence
to be felt, and by the time it was, dynamite was a shell of a man, wsacrificing his own
body to advance the state of the art. despite inventing the light heavyweight style of
professional wrestling he died alone and miserable on his 60th birthday. today i honor
his legacy.
