ANSI Gallery Showing

Many years ago there was a group that made hard copies of many of their ASCII pieces and displayed them in a gallery in Europe. If I can find the information on that showing I will link it here later. Thanks to acidjazz we will have what I believe is the first gallery showing of ANSI art anywhere, and the first textmode showing in the United States.

The gallery show will take place at 20 goto 10 and is being presented by Aempirei. 20 goto 10 is located in San Francisco. Acidjazz is using film designed for back-lit displays combined with lightboxes, like bus shelter ads, to convey the feeling of a CRT monitor.

This is a dream I’ve had for some time. I even know the gallery I would like to try to work with if I ever did it. They did a show a few years ago that showcased graffiti artists. It seems like the right venue, but I have never taken the time that Acidjazz has to actually put it together.

Update: The group that has done exhibitions is Galza (formerly known as HRG). Wik (or whatever name he’s going by these days) of Downmix was the first to let me know. I got in touch with Otium, who has always been my contact on this information, and this is what he had to say:

We’ve done quite a few actually ;).
